Week 6 College Football Picks3 min read
Last Week: 5-1
Season Record: 17-10 (63%)
I’ll be honest, I hate this week’s slate. It’s a bunch of crappy games, sucker lines, and ominous weather. That being said I can’t just pass on an entire weekend, that’s no fun, so here we go. Were currently above 60% so we have been a money-making enterprise hopefully a nice week here can keep that going
- Texas +11.5 Oklahoma
Last year Charlie Strong was on the hot seat coming into this exact same game, and then went out and pulled off the stunner beating the eventual B12 champions. This year he is once again on the hot seat, but has a better team and is facing a worse Oklahoma team. Sure, the Longhorns have been fairly exposed defensively these past 2 games (Cal and Ok. St threw all over them), but I don’t think they are going to be stopping Baker Mayfield by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, I see a highly motivated group of young players coming out playing hard for their coach, and keep this one tight well into the 4th quarter. 11.5 points is just too damn much. Also, Oklahoma hasn’t exactly looked great on defense either, as J.T Barrett, Greg Ward and Kenny Hill have all had their way with the Sooners. Texas doesn’t have a QB as good as those 3 (though if they wanted too they probably could have had any of those 3 out of HS), but I still expect them to be able to put up points.
- Vandy-UK Under 52
What about either of these teams make you think they can score 52 points? Kentucky has looked awful in SEC play and is getting absolutely no QB production, and Vandy has never once had a competent offense under Derek Mason.
- USC -4.5 Colorado
Colorado is a nice story, but let’s peel back the fluff here a bit. They have played one good team, Michigan, and after a hot start they got completely smoked. Then they went out to Oregon and upset the Ducks and people got excited but the truth is that Oregon defense is a total disaster. On the other hand, this USC started slow dropping 2 blowouts to Bama and Stanford, two physical teams that simply dominated USC up front. Colorado isn’t that. Sam Darnold has been an upgrade, mostly because he is just giving it to JuJu and letting him go to work. Trojans by 10. This is my favorite pick of the week. I am making it a 2 unit play to make up the lack of a 5th pick.
- Florida vs. LSU Under 41
LSU Unders have been our play all year no reason to stop now. Plus, Florida has no offense and throw in the weather situation? Under it is.
Big Game Leans
Tennessee @ Texas A&M -7
Miami vs. FSU +3
Alabama -14 @ Arkansas
