Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras injured his right hamstring during the 8th inning of Wednesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Contreras pulled up about 10 feet short of first base after grounding to third, grabbing his hamstring and hopping in pain towards the bag before collapsing to the ground in shallow right. Contreras has been without a doubt the best player on the Cubs since the All-Star break, recently batting 10-22 with 5 home runs and 13 RBI’s over the past 6 games, also being named the National League Player of the Week last week. Contreras is scheduled to receive an MRI tomorrow and is expected to be designated to the DL for an unknown amount of time at this point. We will keep you updated as we learn more about the situation.
