Why We Love Sports: Golden Knights Hold Awesome Pre-Game Ceremony To Honor Vegas Shooting First Responders

While headlines like this should not have to exist in the first place, what happened Tuesday night in Las Vegas was something really special. The Golden Knights, Las Vegas’ new NHL team, held a pre-game ceremony to honor the first responders of last week’s terrible mass shooting at the nearby Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. True heroes. Terrific introductions. Well done, Vegas. #VegasStrong pic.twitter.com/5hIv7ibYl8 — Spittin' Chiclets (@spittinchiclets) October 11, 2017 While Las Vegas obviously has the reputation summed up in the quote “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”, people often overlook that many great, caring individuals call...

Why US Soccer Fans Should Immediately Start Rooting for Greece

Well US soccer fans, it happened. The Men’s National team failed to qualify for the World Cup. There are so many unanswered questions all around, primarily “Who do I cheer for now?” Look no further than team Greece. I know… I know… the wound is way too fresh, but hear me out. The following are a few reasons to cheer on your favorite ancient civilization. The Best Offense is a Good Defense As we learned in the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC there is nothing quite like a good defense. A group of 300 or so scraggly Greeks...

Burger King Adds Spicy Nuggets to Menu

On the night where the US Men’s Soccer team lost to Trinidad and Tobago, we, as a nation, are angry. But, like always, Americans will rally around one another and pick each other up in times of great need. And that is exactly what the Hamburger King has done. Just a mere days after I mentioned that Wendy’s had eliminated Spicy Nugs from their menu, BK brings them back from the dead. Not only do they bring them back, but they absolutely bury Wendy’s in the process by taking out a full-page ad in the Miami Herald offering a free...

Stunner.#USMNT fails to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 pic.twitter.com/Pbp8F5RSET — Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) October 11, 2017 For any fan of U.S. soccer that world has basically ended tonight. For the first time since 1986 the United States will not participate in the World Cup. Heading in to tonight the USMNT was in 3rd place in the CONCACAF Hex with an automatic spot in the 2018 World Cup, by the end of the night they sit in 5th place. This qualification cycle for the U.S . was one full of embarrassment, let downs, and...

USMNT Just Lost to Trinidad and Tobago

I didn’t watch one second of this game. I haven’t watched a United States soccer game since Landon Donovan scored a goal against Ghana in the World Cup. All I know is that our best player is some guy named Pulisic and there’s no way that guy’s American. I am actually a fan of soccer, I just don’t care enough to watch it. BUT, and that’s a big BUT, I am literally in awe right now. What the hell is Trinidad and Tobago?! Are you telling me we aren’t going to the World Cup because we couldn’t beat a...

Give me all your Jake Arrieta-Tanner Roark takes and Inject them in my veins

Seeing a lot of pic.twitter.com/gbsuuCJZya — Nick Surges (@Nick_Surges) October 10, 2017 Yesterday and today and a ton of “Tanner Roark sucks because I don’t closely follow anyone besides the Cubs and have never heard of him and therefore I’m gonna just assume nobody has ever heard of him”.  Well, give me it. I want all the takes. I need them because frankly this post-season hasn’t been as much fun, I haven’t had that much hate in my heart for Cubs fans, they got their title, Quintana is on the team, they aren’t the prohibitive favorite this year, it...

NFL DraftKings Week 6 Lineup

Last week’s NFL Week 5 DraftKings Lineup didn’t quite find the money, making that two winless weeks in a row. Fading Aaron Rodgers and co. didn’t work at all, Jay Cutler did find Jarvis Landry for a TD but was overall miserable, and Zeke and Tate were not worth the money. Did absolutely nail the Antonio Brown pick though, as he went off and was owned at a record low 12%. We are still way up on the year after Week 3’s jackpot, but none the less I’m sick of not cashing. Time to get back in the green. QB- Tom...

Hopeful Beginning, Same Miserable End In Bears 20-17 Loss To Vikings

The start of the 10God/Glitch Trubisky era was filled with a lot of excitement and promise, but eventually was not enough to get the job done with the Chicago Bears falling to the Minnesota Vikings on MNF 20-17. Trubisky went 12-25 for 128 years with one touchdown and one interception. The interception came with just over two minutes left in the game, virtually ending the Bears’ chance of a victory with the Vikings later kicking the game winning field goal with 16 seconds left in the game. While the Bears showed a lot of promise in this one, they also showed why they...

Fox’s Top Ten: Thanks for Playing, Oklahoma

Oklahoma lost to Iowa State. In football. As a 30 point favorite. Elsewhere, Michigan gave up 94 passing yards…and lost. Mark Dantonio beat the Wolverines for the eighth time in 10 years, who will no doubt be pissed off and looking to take it out on their next opponent….*looks at schedule*…Indiana. Jim Harbaugh will definitely try to avenge his fallen brother-in-law, Tom Crean, but I’m all in on the Hoosiers this week and will be on hand to will them to victory (or yet another heartbreaking loss). Auburn continues to climb, Ohio State returns to prominence, and Washington State...
