USWNT Opens the Olympics Tonight against New Zealand

That’s right, two days before the Opening Ceremonies, the event that “officially” opens up the Olympic Games the USWNT will start their Gold medal defense against a much weaker New Zealand side.

The US is defending Olympic and World champions and should cruise in this opening match of group play. The actual tournament opened up this morning as Sweden and South Africa battle it out, in one of the oldest rivalries in the sport!

There are a total of six matches today, with France and Colombia in the nightcap. The US is in Group G with France, Colombia and New Zealand, overall a tough group but nothing the USWNT cannot handle as they should win the group fairly easily.

Prediction on tonight’s match: US 3 New Zealand 0.

People forget: Gordon Bombay only coached the Ducks because it was a court order.
