Hammer Suspended, Hawks Split with Wings

Niklas Hjalmarsson has been suspended for the remainder of preseason play and for the home opener against St. Louis for his hit the other night on St. Louis’s Ty Rattie. Hammer hit Rattie high, shoulder to head, which was immediately followed by a scuffle with the Blues’ line. The NHL ruled that the hit on Rattie was illegal and handed down the suspension. The Hawks would go on to win that game against the Blues 4-0. The Bulls started out hot and led 14-3 early in the first, but once the trio of Butler, Wade and Rondo came off the court, the reserves couldn’t maintain the lead.
