Wylin' Out for Woptober
Woptober is the newest album from Gucci Mane, being released for free to the masses today. This is his second studio album since being released from prison so all of our #FreeGucci prayers were answered (the first and only time a hashtag campaign worked). Gucci got out in the summer of 2016 and his last full album was released in 2011 (!) but he’s really made a name for himself in the single and mixtape game. He and Weezy are probably the top 2 downloaded rappers on DatPiff so Gucci is finally putting out original, signature tracks for the first time in a long time. Much like Everybody Looking, Woptober boasts a lot of driving, bass-heavy beats that are so indicative of the Southern Trap style that Gucc has become synonymous with. With the only features coming on 2 tracks, one with Young Dolph and the other with Rick Ross, we’re entitled to quite a bit of straight Gucci dropping bars. The whole album has a much more aggressive, angry tone, similar to his single that was made within an HOUR of getting out of prison.
Gucci gets back to the durty south style he perfected and Woptober is another notch in his designer belt. Gucci has really done his part to make 2016 one of the best years ever for rap albums.
Top tracks for me: The Left, Icy Lil Bitch, Right On Time, Bling Blaww Burr
Final Score: 8.7/10
