B-Frank's NFL Week 7 Power Rankings
Biggest Jump: San Diego jumps 7 spots after their Thursday Night win over Denver.
Biggest Fall: Pittsburgh falls 7 spots after their loss to Miami.
1. Minnesota Vikings 5-0
Last Week: 1
No brainer, the last undefeated team and the best defense in the league. Vikings get the struggling Eagles Sunday afternoon in Philly.
2. New England Patriots 5-1
Last Week: 2
Even if the Pats were 6-0, I’d still have Minnesota at #1. New England is my favorite to win the Super Bowl, but the one blemish counts even if it was with a 3rd string QB. They throttled Cincy at home this week and head to a Roethlisberger-less Pittsburgh next Sunday.
3. Seattle Seahawks 4-1
Last Week: 5
Really nice win for Seattle at home against a good Atlanta team this weekend. Christine Michael carried the load offensively with 2 rushing TDs and Russ threw for 270 yards. They head to Arizona for a Sunday Night match-up.
4. Dallas Cowboys 5-1
Last Week: 8
I am all-in on the rookie duo of Elliott and Prescott. They torched the Packers and flat-out embarrassed them at Lambeau, something very few teams have done. The Boys have a bye week.
5. Denver Broncos 5-1
Last Week: 1
What a bad loss to San Diego. Yes it was a road game and yes Philip Rivers is good, but come on. This is supposed to be a top tier defense and they give up 21 points to a very banged up Chargers team. The offense is really struggling and they really don’t have a quarterback, Trevor Siemian should NEVER throw the ball 50 times. Denver plays Houston on Monday Night.
6. Buffalo Bills 4-2
Last Week: 11
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, the Bills are back! 4 straight wins and they are showing no signs of slowing down. They just dropped 45 on San Francisco and will head to Miami where you can expect Shady McCoy to have a monster game against the horrendous run defense of the Dolphins.
7. Atlanta Falcons 4-2
Last Week: 6
Falcons-Seahawks was probably the best game of the weekend, after going down 17-3 at the half Matt Ryan came out firing in the 2nd half scoring three 3rd quarter TDs to give his team a 7 point lead. Seattle answered with a TD and FG to win. All-in-all great game, cannot fault either team too much for a loss here, hence the one spot drop. Atlanta has San Diego at home this week.
8. Green Bay Packers 3-2
Last Week: 3
I don’t think I have ever seen Aaron Rodgers look so out-of-sync and lost in the offense. He made some absolutely awful throws on Sunday one of which was easily intercepted. Eddie Lacy is clearly not 100% putting all the pressure on Rodgers, which normally would be okay, but he has looked pedestrian this year. He gets a gift this week as they host the Bears on Thursday Night.
9. Washington Redskins 4-2
Last Week: 13
Yes Kirk, we do indeed, like that. Cousins and crew have won 4 straight and are 2nd in the NFC East after a 7 point win over Philly. Matt Jones had a big day to pace the offense. Washington heads to Detroit to take on the Lions Sunday afternoon.
10. Houston Texans 4-2
Last Week: 12
What a comeback. Brock Osweiler throws 2 TD passes in the final 3 minutes to send the game to OT, where the Texans win 26-23. Brock finally started earning his money, along with Lamar Miller who scored his first TD in Houston as well. Texans head to Denver for a Monday Night game against the Broncos.
11. Oakland Raiders 4-2
Last Week: 9
The Raiders drop their 2nd home game of the year. Carr was very average and they had absolutely no running game whatsoever. The defense wasn’t great but they are dealing with some injury issues. They need consistency from Carr if they want to make a playoff run. Oakland heads to mighty Jacksonville this Sunday.
12. Arizona Cardinals 3-3
Last Week: 15
Arizona has bounced back nicely from a 1-3 start to get back to .500. They beat a very very bad Jets team on Monday 28-3. David Johnson continues to impress this season as he tacked on 3 more touchdowns to his total. Arizona is home against Seattle on Sunday Night.
13. Philadelphia Eagles 3-2
Last Week: 10
I said it a few weeks ago and unfortunately for Eagles fans it has come true, that bye week killed their momentum. The Eagles have lost two straight and Wentz looked horrible on Sunday against Washington. The road doesn’t get any easier as they play Minnesota at home.
14. Pittsburgh Steelers 4-2
Last Week: 7
No Big Ben = no chance for Pittsburgh. Not really much else to say here. Oh, the defense looked awful this week giving up 30 points to Miami…yikes. To make matters worse they host New England Sunday.
15. Kansas City Chiefs 3-2
Last Week: 16
Andrew “Football Guy” Reid is now 16-2 coming off of bye weeks. And boy did he get a big road win Sunday. Spencer Ware played well and Alex Smith was very efficient. They play New Orleans at home this Sunday.
16. Detroit Lions 3-3
Last Week: 19
The ole gunslinger Matt Stafford gets it done against LA throwing for 4 TDs in a 3 point win. Their defense did get shredded by Case Keenum and they had a non-existent run game, but hey, a win is a win is a win. Lions host the Skins.
17. Los Angeles Rams 3-3
Last Week: 14
“Water always finds its level” (h/t Big Cat). Jeff “.500” Fisher is back! 3-1 was too good and too scary for Jeff, like a college kid afraid of differing opinions he had to find his safe zone, and that is at .500. Keenum looked really good, but wasn’t enough to get the win. There is officially a missing persons report filed, we are looking for Todd Gurley. If you see him, tell him it’s Week 7 and time to play football. Rams head to foggy London town to play the G-Men.
18. New York Giants 3-3
Last Week: 23
I don’t think I have ever had a more accurate prediction of a game than I did last week. Eli threw for 3 scores and Odell stopped (for a moment) his tantrum and nonsense to play football and he torched the Ravens secondary for 222 yards. He still needs to cut the shit with the kicking net and taking off his helmet was an incredibly stupid penalty, but hey they won. Giants head to London to play LA.
19. New Orleans 2-3
Last Week: 21
The Saints are comin. Breesus has lead New Orleans to back-to-back win and averaged 38 points per game. The defense has not been good, but if Brees is putting up these numbers, it’ll be tough for them to lose. Saints head to KC on Sunday.
20. Cincinnati Bengals 2-4
Last Week: 18
Cincy has not played well this year, that is a fact. However, they are nowhere near out of the playoff race. Baltimore has finally come back down to Earth and shown they aren’t a good football team and Big Ben is out, just like that, this is a race again. Dalton needs to get his head out of his ass and start playing and this defense has to realize how good it can be. They have arguably the best game they could get with Cleveland at home and a chance to get their season back on track.
21. Baltimore Ravens 3-3
Last Week: 17
Baltimore has dropped 3 in-a-row and while they were against three decent-to-good teams, I’m still not a believer in this team. Flacco continues to miss open receivers, specifically Mike Wallace in the final 20 seconds. Terrence West played really well but he can’t do it all. Ravens get a real test on the road at the Jets. This is their prove it week.
22. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-4
Last Week: 22
The Jags offense was shutout by the Bears in the first half Sunday, marking the first time the Bears had done that in a looooong time. They played an okay 2nd half and managed to scrape together 17 points to win on the road. Just the 2nd time they’ve done that in 3 years. It was one of the worst football games I have ever watched. Jaguars are home against Oakland.
23. San Diego Chargers 2-4
Last Week: 30
I have never been so lost on a team in my life. They beat Denver on Thursday night after blowing 3 games in epic fashion. Rivers has been really good this year, but the rest of his team has not and has been injured. Somehow he found a way to get it done. This week they head to Atlanta.
24. Indianapolis Colts 2-4
Last Week: 20
The Colts blew that late lead to Houston and eventually lost in OT. That’s just how this year has gone for Indy. They currently sit in last place in a very winnable AFC South, but show no signs of life or a killer instinct. Luck has not been great, but he has given them chances to win. They head to Tennessee for a big divisional match-up.
25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2-3
Last Week: 25
Bucs are coming off of a much needed bye week to reset their focus and hopefully let Jameis watch hours upon hours of film. They will get a winnable road test at San Francisco this week.
26. Tennessee Titans 3-3
Last Week: 26
As Mariota goes, so do the Titans. Marcus threw for 3 TDs and ran for 64 yards in a close win over the Browns. DeMarco Murray didn’t have the game I had expected but Mariota finally picked up the slack. Titans host the Colts on Sunday.
27. Miami Dolphins 2-4
Last Week: 29
Huge win for Miami, but it’s certainly too late to make a difference as New England has the stranglehold on the division and Buffalo is playing great football. Tannehill is not a good quarterback, but to his credit, he did not turn the ball over this weekend. Jay Ajayi had a monster day with 204 yards and 2 scores. Dolphins host the Bills this Sunday.
28. Carolina Panthers 1-5
Last Week: 24
What is wrong with the Carolina Panthers? They are not a very good football team. Cam looks absolutely miserable out there and the defense is porous. The good news is they have Jonathon Stewart back which should ease the pressure off of Cam. Panthers get a much needed bye week.
29. New York Jets 1-5
Last Week: 28
These bottom four teams could be the worst football teams I have ever seen. Fitz threw another interception this week to give him 1,259 on the season and then they bring in Geno who throws one on SIX TOTAL PASSES. The toughest part for Jets’ fans is how bad their defense has been. Week 1 they held Cincy to 23 points, the fewest all season, woof. This was supposed to be one of the best in the game…Jets host the floundering Ravens on Sunday.
30. Chicago Bears 1-5
Last Week 27
I have fixed the Chicago Bears offensive woes, read here if you want to see how we can save the season. Brian Hoyer proved why he has been a career back-up in the NFL, because even when he is at his best, he still can’t put points on the board. Jay should start on Thursday in a place he just looooooves to play at, Lambeau Field.
31. San Francisco 49ers 1-5
Last Week: 31
Well, Chip tried something different and started Kaepernick and shocker, it didn’t work. I think Colin can be a good quarterback in the right system. He should not be throwing the ball often because he is wildly inaccurate. I still think he is the better option than Blaine Gabbert, but both guys are not good. Niners host the Bucs.
32. Cleveland Browns 0-6
Last Week: 32
Cleveland with yet another chance to break the mold and win a game and they falter late. Water always finds its level as I mentioned earlier and this has to happen because of the recent success in Cleveland. The Browns cannot be good otherwise Cleveland becomes a real sports town. Oh, by the way, the Browns also didn’t win a preseason game so they’re 0-10 this season. They head to in-state rival Cincinnati on Sunday.
