Blues-Wild WCQF Series Preview

Regular season result: Blues (3-2-0) Home-ice advantage: Minnesota  Storyline: Mike Yeo returns to Minnesota Forward edge: Minnesota The best forward in this series is Vladimir Tarasenko, but Minnesota’s offense has been better by committee all season. Tarasenko is a game-changing forward, but I give the edge to Eric Staal, Zach Parise, Mikael Granlund, and company. Defense edge: Minnesota Ryan Suter is a great defenseman. Alex Pietrangelo and Colton Parayko are great players, but Minnesota’s responsible 200-foot game to compliment their solid six defenders gives them the edge here. Suter, Jared Spurgeon, Jonas Brodin, and company just edge out St. Louis’ back end. Goaltending: Minnesota Devan...

Bruins-Senators ECQF Series Preview

Regular season result: Ottawa (4-0-0) Home ice: Ottawa This series comes off as being one of the more under the radar series in the entire first round, and I’m not quite sure why. Boston is a team that has a history of post-season success, but this year has been rather down as they parted ways with long-time coach Claude Julien who went over to Montreal (again). On the other hand, Ottawa is a team that not very many people know about. Ottawa doesn’t necessarily have the recent playoff experience/success that Boston has, but they certainly have a squad that...

New York Rangers-Montreal Canadiens ECQF Preview

Author: Dan Marotz Regular Season Series: Montreal (3-0-0) Home Ice Advantage: New York Forwards: NYR I’d have to give the edge to the Rangers in this category. I think both teams have good, talented players. However, I think when it comes to playoff time, the Rangers forwards perform a bit better and are a bit more lethal. To me, players like Derek Stefan, J.T Miller, and Chris Kreider will outshine the likes of Max Pacioretty, Alex Galchenyuk, and Alexander Radulov. I think from top to bottom the Rangers are a more whole and complete offense. What it all comes...

Cleveland Browns “Considering” Both Garrett And Trubisky, Are Crazy

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly not 100% on taking Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett with the first overall pick. Insiders are saying that the team is also looking at North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, whose draft stock has been rising the past couple of weeks. LOOK HOW BIG THIS (starting to think he might not even be a) HUMAN IS!!! The man is a physical specimen: 6’4, 272 pounds. Believe it or not, he is also pretty athletic, too. #15 ran a 4.64 in the 40, threw up 33 reps on the bench press, and put up a...

Blue Jackets-Penguins ECQF Series Preview

Regular season result: Pittsburgh (2-1-1) Home ice advantage: Pittsburgh By this time we are all well aware of the flawed playoff format that the NHL has recently implemented, but now this is a time when we see that it truly STINKS. 3 0f the league’s 4 best teams are all from the red-hot Metropolitan division and because of that, one team will not make it out of the first round. Having said that though, this should make for a fantastic series as the Blue Jackets, who have seemingly come out of nowhere this season, meet the Pittsburgh Penguins who are coming...
