Remember learning about all of those ancient Greek scholars back in your sixth grade science textbook? The Galileo’s, the Plato’s, the Copernicus’s, the Sir Isaac Newton’s, that motley crue? All of those guys who spent years and years studying astronomy on how the world works? I’m here to tell you that all of that was a complete hoax. Your sixth grade textbook brainwashed you. No, Copernicus, we’re not just another planet revolving around the sun. Go ahead and shove that telescope right up your rear end, Galileo. All of that was just simply dead wrong, and I’m here to tell you why.
The earth does one of two things. It either stands normal, the way everything should work. The way that the world SHOULD work. Or, it just totally flips upside down and everything you thought to be true is in fact false. We don’t spin on any axis or rotate around, we just flip upside down sometimes. How do I know this? Easy. Because my world right now is upside down.
ATTENTION. The Cubs are fine but it must be noted that

Is that good? No it’s not good at all, not one bit. If you’re jumping ship on the Cubs because of a slow start then you’re a moron, but I would have loved a nice 9-4, 10-3 start to the year. Let everyone know that you’re the World Champs and that you’re back to defend your crown. I didn’t want to get swept on a weekend series at home to the Pirates. I didn’t want to come out and lose to the Milwaukee Brewers last night, I didn’t want any of that. It is absolutely inexcusable for this team to ever be below .500. They’re too talented, too deep, and too much fun to be a below .500 baseball team. Start hitting the baseball, start playing with the same fire you did last year, and please for the love of God find a bullpen. These guys are literally throwing batting practice from the 7th inning on right now. We all know how good this team is, which is why it’s infuriating when they’re not playing to the level we know that they can. We march on…

Is this good? No, it’s not good at all, not one bit. Losing a 2-0 lead in the third period, down 2-0 in the series, would fall under the “not good” category. I mean for heaven’s sake. You had absolutely no sense of urgency at all in game 1, you got your brains beat to a pulp in game 2, and now you’re going to blow a 2-0 lead in game 3?! Not good. 7 scoreless periods in a row at one point this series and now you’re down 3-0 staring back-t0-back first round exits right in the face. This whole dump and chase method would probably be working if we crashed the net and got our asses to work on the forecheck, but nobody’s doing that. Down 3-0 facing elimination Thursday night in Nashville. I’m not saying we’re dead, but we’re not exactly alive. Just win every shift, for the love of god win a face-off, and find a way to get back home for a game 5. We’ve seen them do it before. A heavy dose of 88, 72, 19, 2, and 50 on Thursday night and find a way to get back home. Grab your lunch pales and get to work. One shift at a time.
This was supposed to be the best summer yet. This Blackhawks team was built to keep the dynasty reigning, this Cubs team has established themselves as the team to beat in all of baseball, and here we are. A bad start for the Cubs and the Blackhawks 60 minutes away from the golf course. This isn’t how it was supposed to happen, but here we are. Smack-dab in the middle of the twilight zone.
Wait, what? What’s that? There’s another team playing right now? Who? The Sox? Nobody cares about the Sox. The Bears? Nope, the Bears stink. Well who then?!?!
Just like we all drew it up folks!!! Yep, you called it all along , each and every one of you. The Cubs? Noooooo. The Blackhawks? Noooooo. The Chicago Bulls baby! Gar Forman and John Paxson are here to deliver us from evil. Did I ever say anything negative about Gar/Pax? Did I ever attempt to carry on a movement that would result in the termination of their jobs? Never! Did anyone ever doubt the moves you made, the roster that’s being held together by hot glue and WD-40, or anything you guys have literally ever done?! Nope, never.
What a world we live in. That whole “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” thing everyone always talks about, well, I’ve got our new motto. “When all your teams are stinking it up, turn to the Chicago Bulls.” I wrote before this series that the Bulls were going to beat the Boston Celtics in 6 games. The match ups in this series are good, it appears as if we’re playing with a lot of heart, and Jimmy Butler plays for our team, not theirs. Seriously, name any player the past 10 years or so other than LeBron James or Kawhi Leonard who has to go score 30 points and guard the opponents best player. He is the most underappreciated superstar in all of professional sports. Next time you’re in Church be sure to say a quick prayer to the big man for putting Jimmy Butler in your life. He deserves to win this series so bad, and I hope we give it to him.
As far as tonight goes, there are a lot of things I want to see the Bulls do. I’m fully expecting to lose the game, because I just don’t think you steal 2 in Boston, but I want to see a couple of things happen. First and foremost, I want to see Niko get going. You have to have a confident Niko in order to win this series. Let him see a couple of shots go in and make sure he gets on that plane ride home feeling confident. I’d also like to see Bobby Portis come back and play strong. You’re not going to get what Bobby gave you last game tonight, but if he can get you 10 points and maintain his presence on the glass, that would be fantastic to see. Being up 1-0 in a series is uncharted waters for this team, and I want to see how they respond to that. The scoreboard is not necessarily the most important thing tonight. Play hard, be confident, and come home and defend Madison street. I like the spot this Bulls team is in right now (can’t believe I’m saying that).
The Cubs will come back strong and the Blackhawks aren’t out of it yet. Put together good at bats, good shifts, and go back to grinding out wins. As for the Bulls, I guess they’re the only ray of sunshine we have right now. Put the city on Jimmy’s back and lets ride tonight. It’s always darkest before the dawn folks, better days are coming. But what a world we live in, what a world.
