The NFL notified its teams yesterday that Michigan standout Jabrill Peppers tested positive for a dilute sample at the scouting combine. Peppers, who is perhaps the most versatile player in the 2017 NFL Draft, is still projected to be taken anywhere from the top 10 to the 15th pick in the draft, even with the failed test. A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Peppers failed the test after drinking “8-10 bottles of water” after feeling ill flying from San Diego to the combine in Indianapolis.

Personally, I think this excuse is hilarious. You would have thought that Peppers, feeling so ill, would have greatly underperformed at the combine, which was not the case as he put up pretty good numbers. Also, just the sheer number of water bottles he drank is ridiculous. In the long run, this failed test is going to do little to no damage to his draft stock moving forward, as the NFL is probably the most lenient on performance enhancing drugs in all of professional sports. It will be interesting, however, to see if Peppers can find the same level of success on the professional level that he found in Ann Arbor.
