Bears Sign Victor Cruz To One Year Deal<span class="wtr-time-wrap after-title"><span class="wtr-time-number">1</span> min read</span>

Former New York Giant Wide Receiver, Victor Cruz, agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, yesterday.

Cruz was welcomed on Twitter from some popular Chicagoans including Kyle Long, former Giants teammate and current Bear, Prince Amukamara as well as Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.

The signing makes sense as the Bears are desperate for receivers that can actually catch the ball, but a big issue with Cruz is that he is very injury prone. Cruz missed the last 10 games of 2014 and all of 2015 with leg injuries. He returned last season but was essentially a shell of himself catching 39 passes for 586 yards and 1 touchdown. This is a clear “low risk-high reward” move on a veteran who has pro-bowl caliber skills. But you have to think that ship has sailed for Cruz. He’s now 30, he’s listed at 6 feet but I’d put him at a tall 5-10 and is, for better or worse, a less dynamic Eddie Royal, whom the Bears just cut. It has been tough for me to put into words how I felt about this move until LMBF’s own, Nick Surges, tweeted this gem.

As sad as it is, this tweet is the full embodiment of the Ryan Pace era thus far. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for his moves, he just makes them. The only premeditated move he has made was the Trubisky pick and even then, he left his own head coach in the dark! Oh, and this signing still doesn’t help the league’s best defense at giving up yards and points…but no worries, you fix defense with good offense right?
