Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes had to be airlifted to a medical facility earlier this morning after his car collided into a train. Illinois State Police reported that his pickup truck was struck on the passenger side by the front of the train after Hughes crossed a railroad gate directly into it. The incident occurred at 10:43 a.m. in Raymond, Illinois, around 12 miles away from his home in Hillsboro. UFC president Dana White has been in contact with him and his family, saying that he is recovering from severe head trauma. Hughes has been retired since 2013, but was reportedly considering a comeback fight slated for later this year.
