After todays Lonzo Ball is a Los Angeles Laker news, the Lakers should turn right around and get Paul George tonight and sign him to a max extension. Get it over with now. Offer the Pacers
- Julius Randle, a nice young PF
- Ivica Zubac, a young C
- 27th pick they just acquired
- 28th pick they already have
This leaves the Lakers with a starting lineup of Ball-Clarkson-Ingram-George-Lopez with Larry Nance Jr., Swaggy P and Loul Deng off the bench. That’s a borderline playoff team in the West in their first year playing together, and it only gets better. Offer someone their 2020 first rounder and maybe Nance Jr. to take on Deng’s contract at the deadline, and then Lopez comes off the books after the year and you have a world of cap space to add superstars to the Ball-Ingram-PG13 core you have established.
Sure, people will point out Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks, but the Lakers can’t afford to fuck around. They need PG13, and the time to strike is now, the Pacers have no leverage. If they sit around and let him go to Cleveland and win a title with LeBron, or Boston and be apart of a young intriguing core with a great coach, he may just decide he is happy where he is. Don’t risk it Magic, go get your guy.
