Thought that a nice little CONTENT idea would be to blog every Cubs game that I go to this year. You know, because I am a part time season ticket holder (humble brag).  Thought it could be fun for the blogger hiding out in his mom’s basement to actually get out in the action and give a much clearer take on the game.

Now this idea came to me later than I imagined. I’ve already been to 3 games this year, 3 wins might I add (humble brag #2). But that’s beyond the point, without further ado, let’s recap this game.

Rizzo was back at it again, doing Superman things going yard with the first pitch he saw to open the bottom of the 1st, that brings him to 3 career leadoff HR’s in 7 career plate appearances. Not only that, Rizz also became the only player in the last 60 seasons to reach in his first PA in each of his first 7 career games hitting leadoff. Watch out Rickey.

Happ also went yard last night, and Javy easily could’ve had one of the little league variety after Gary Jones held him at 3rd after one of the Padres rotating no-names manning center field botched an easy one-hopper.

Montgomery looked great in his 6-innings of shutout ball and the trio of Carl Edwards, Pedro Strop, and Justin Grimm didn’t scare the shit out of me like the normally do.

Great team win for the Cubbies and the shutout was an added extra for sure.

Cubs will look to keep it rolling today against the Padres again for Game 3 of the series, 1:20 at the Confines.
