On the eve of NBA free agency, rumors had been swirling around Paul George for weeks. Many had pecked Boston or Cleveland as his next destination for the 2017-18 season, which is only one season away from unrestricted free-agent status.

George could very well sign with the Lakers after this season, but NBA fans are going to get one season of a Paul George-Russell Westbrook tandem. That’s at least something to be excited about. For Boston, their attention will go squarely to Gordon Hayward, a player they will be all-in on once they can make contact with him at midnight.
