Coach K has done it again. He lands the top 2018 recruit AND Bagley decides to reclassify to 2017 and join the already star-studded group in Durham. Bagley joins the previously #2 ranked recruiting class, his addition takes Duke over the top. This is the third time in four years that Duke has landed the top recruiting class and the third time they’ve landed the #1 recruit (2014 Jahlil Okafor and 2016 Harry Giles). For a man who doesn’t like the one-and-done format, Coach K sure as hell has taken advantage of it. And for good reason, just because you don’t like the current format or rules, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it or put yourself at a disadvantage to prove a point.

Looking ahead to this season, the Blue Devils will once again be heavily reliant on Freshmen. As we’ve seen, that can either go really well, a la the 2015 Title, or disappoint like last season. As of right now, I would say this is the top team in the country. They are deep, can attack you in a multitude of ways, and have decent size for the first time in a while. Not to mention they return one of the best players in the country, Grayson Allen. I’d say, barring injuries, of course, they are a clear-cut Final Four threat and should be making a deep March run.
