New England Patriots Reportedly Sign Kenny Britt1 min read
The New England Patriots have reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with free agent wide receiver Kenny Britt. Britt visited with New England on Tuesday after being released by the Cleveland Browns on Friday. Britt caught 18 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns in nine games for the Browns this year. Britt spent his first five seasons with the Tennessee Titans and spent the past two with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, reeling in 68 catches for 1,002 yards last season.
The Patriots LOVE to sign sketchy-character guys late in the season like this, last year picking up DUI-riddled Michael Floyd. New England obviously has great wide receiver talent in Cooks, Amendola, and Hogan, but NONE of them are taller than 6’1. Britt gives them size and height and will be a great red zone threat for Brady as the Patriots draw closer to another Super Bowl run.
The only question here is whether or not Britt is going to take this opportunity seriously. The guy has the build and talent to be a top-tier NFL wide receiver, but has never really put the work or effort in to do so, racking up multiple off-the-field mishaps with the law on the contrary. Robert Kraft even told the Boston Herald in 2014 that they wouldn’t sign him because of said off the field issues. Britt could really help the Patriots here, and the Patriots could really help him, even giving him a reported 2-year deal. Really high-ceiling move here by the Pats, Bill gets another weapon to add to his arsenal.
