Why Aren’t People Smarter?1 min read
Every single time the Patriots play a game of this magnitude I always find myself asking the same question. “Have I been watching the wrong sport for the past decade or two?” Like I legitimately don’t know if I’ve been watching the same thing as everybody else. All your boys are blowing up the group chat with the “BORTLES!” and the “THIS IS IT” texts, all of these moron analysts are tweeting the Patriots are dead when they went down 14-3, and Tony Romo is acting like he’s never seen something like this before. Have I been watching the right sport my whole life?
Why in the world did anybody think for one second that Tom Brady was losing to Blake Bortles in the AFC Championship? Even when it was 14-3 people were throwing out the “This is over” proclamations. Did these people not watch the Super Bowl last year?! I don’t care that the biggest match up problem in the NFL didn’t play the 2nd half, I don’t care that Edelman was out, I don’t care that Dion Lewis fumbled and Bortles had the ball up ten in the 4th quarter, I don’t care.
Be smarter. This “any given Sunday” stuff doesn’t apply to this team. It’s just one of the rules of this sport. The New England Patriots don’t apply to usual rules. There was a 0% chance Jacksonville was going to win that game. Credit to Bortles for keeping it close, but come on people. Be smarter. We’re talking about the greatest player to ever pick up a Football here Just be smarter. Now go get one for the other hand.
