Conference Title Games March 12
There are five more automatic bids on the line tonight. We’ve had six already punched and these ones could have big implications on the rest of the NCAA Tournament field. Below is a list of the automatic bids already won and previews of the games taking place tonight.
|Atlantic Sun||Liberty Flames|
|Big South||Gardner-Webb Bulldogs|
|Missouri Valley||Bradley Braves|
|Ohio Valley||Murray State Racers|
CAA Title Northeastern vs Hofstra 6pm CT CBSSN
The two best teams in the league are squaring off following tight semifinal games. Hofstra outlasted Delaware in overtime thanks to another monster game from Justin Wright-Foreman. Northeastern took down the hosts Charleston in a 3-point win with a slightly controversial call. Vasa Pusica is a great player that doesn’t get talked about much and he will have to play that way to get any mention and get his team to the dance.
NEC Title Fairleigh Dickinson vs St. Francis (PA) 6pm CT ESPN 2
Another league that send their top two teams to the title game. This one is really up for grabs. The Knights of FDU have four guys that can score it well while St. Francis is one of the worst defensive teams in the country. They do have Keith Braxton who is a star in this conference and can propel his team past anyone in the NEC.
Horizon League Title Wright State vs Northern Kentucky 6pm CT ESPN
Northern Kentucky survived last night on a late 3 (video below) from their star Drew McDonald that stunned Oakland. They get to take on Wright State. This should be a pretty even matchup as the two teams split the season series both winning by 4 points.
WCC Title Gonzaga vs Saint Mary’s 8pm CT ESPN
Another year and another Gonzaga vs Saint Mary’s WCC Championship game. The Zags continue to dominate this league and rivalry with the Gaels. Saint Mary’s is playing for their tournament life while Gonzaga is looking to complete the full season sweep of the league all by double digits. As if that wasn’t enough, Killian Tillie returned last night for the Bulldogs and played 19 minutes, he should be playing about the same tonight.
Summit League Title North Dakota State vs Omaha 8pm CT ESPN 2
One of the biggest upsets of the early conference tournament season was Mike Daum and South Dakota State losing to Western Illinois. The Leathernecks followed that performance up with a narrow 3-point loss to North Dakota State. Omaha should be the heavy favorites as they finished 2nd in the league and beat the Bison (pronounced Bizon) in both of their meetings this season.
