Minnesota Vikings Select NC State C Garrett Bradbury #18 Overall
With the 18th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings began their attempt to reload after a down year in 2018, taking NC State C Garrett Bradbury.
As we all know, taking a center in the first round isn’t going to excite the masses. As an O Lineman myself it hurts to admit, but it’s the truth. From a football standpoint, however, this is a very solid pick. Garrett Bradbury is a solid blocker that can help clear lanes in the middle and keep Kirk Cousins clean. Not to mention, he has experience blocking those monsters on the Clemson DL, which should translate to the NFL as much as any college opponent can.
Everything in football starts at the line of scrimmage, so if Garrett Bradbury can help set the table as the point guard of the line, the Vikings are in good shape. With dangerous wideouts in Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, Kirk Cousins needs time in the pocket. Minnesota is praying that Bradbury is the key to making sure that happens for years to come.
