No Luck for the Friars; Judge Rules State Semi-Final will not be Overturned

Judge: Fenwick has shown irreparable harm. But there are two other factors — Michael O'Brien (@michaelsobrien) November 23, 2016 No TRO. Fenwick has not shown inconsistent application of the rules. — Michael O'Brien (@michaelsobrien) November 23, 2016 Court finds for IHSA. — Michael O'Brien (@michaelsobrien) November 23, 2016 Per Michael O’Brien of the Chicago Tribune, Fenwick has lost its case against the IHSA, and Plainfield North will move onto the State Final. Disappointing, but not unexpected. Congrats to the Friars on an historically great season. Share this:PrintTweetEmailLike this:Like...

The Referees Blew Fenwick’s Chances at a State Title UPDATE: Officials Admit Fault, but Call will not be Changed.

For a recap of tonight’s game, check out the live updates we did throughout. If you’re reading this article, I’m sure you’ve already heard of the loss Fenwick endured tonight in heartbreaking fashion. With 3 seconds remaining, Quarterback Jacob Keller tossed the ball into the Fenwick sidelines as time expired, and the stands celebrated as if Fenwick was heading to Champaign for the first time in school history.  But the officials said otherwise, and called an intentional grounding on the play. It was the correct call, but what the refereeing crew awarded Plainfield North was incorrect. The referees ruled that...

Fenwick Playoff Run Lives On!

The Friars have made it deep into the playoff run, at least deeper than they have in years (excluding a Prep Bowl victory in 2010, of course). This team has talent all over the place and have the somewhat rare ability to be a high school football team that can actually pass. They are just the third team in Fenwick history and first since 1995 to reach the State Semi-Finals. There’s a good chance that you’ll see some of these current Friars playing on Saturdays on a bigger stage in a couple of years so it very well could...

Fenwick Friars Are Headed To The Playoffs, Determined And Driven

What a turn-around from last year. Your, mine, and our Friars actually lost to St. Ignatius last year. Ignatius! Good grief. Well, if losing to the Nut Sack Wolf Pack the previous year and then going on to the playoffs the following year isn’t a 180 degree turn, I don’t know what is. They square off against Lake Zurich at a neutral site on Saturday, November 5 so if you’re not already witnessing history, I highly suggesting heading down to this game. Champaign, here we come. Friar Up! PS Fenwick is 7A this year. Kinda sweet to potentially knock off some...

Fenwick Football is Hungry for More

As an alum of Fenwick High School, I was taught the Dominican values of maintaining journalistic integrity at all times so I will recall those values through out this article (wink, wink). Fenwick is currently 2-0, with huge wins over 4A champs Wendell Phillps Academy and Bowen High School. The win over Phillips was such a huge moment for the program, bringing SO MUCH momentum with it that it very well may carry over until Thanksgiving weekend down in Champaign. What a way to open your season, huh? And because of that win, head coach Gene Nudo was named...
